Proceeds are used to pay over 200 musicians, security and those who handle the money. Most everyone else you see on the field is a volunteer. It’s that time again!!! Planning for our 33rd Annual Blues Festival is underway! Your financial support in the past has allowed us to bring quality artists and music since 1991. We’d like to ask you to support our efforts once again. As a non-profit organization, we rely heavily upon the OK State Arts Council, and your generous sponsorships and donations. We hope that you will continue to partner with us on our mission to “keep The D.C.Minner Dream / and to keep The Blues Alive”. We are working with various agencies to select the performers for this year’s festival, and will announce our lineup soon. We offer a variety of performer’s with international, national, regional and local appeal.

Friends of Rentiesville Blues, the OK Blues Hall of Fame and the D.C. Minner Rentiesville Museum believes in being good citizens, and take pride in giving back to Rentiesville, Checotah, Muskogee and our surrounding communities. We give music lessons through the local libraries, and here at our facility – either very affordable $20/lesson) or for free.. With assistance from the Oklahoma State Arts Council we have conducted our Blues in the Schools Program which has introduced thousands of local schoolchildren to the American style of music known as the Blues!
We wish to personally invite all of our Sponsors and Friends to come out and attend the our 33rd Fest …1 free ticket up to ten of them / per each $50 donated ) It will be a great family friendly show!! OUR FOCUS is to keep this wonderful, non commercial but very influential music alive and thriving with
Our Four Point Approach
- play the music; Selby Minner performs solo and with Blues on the Move at events, in schools and she hosts an ongoing 4 hour Sunday Jam Session at the Blues Club since 2010,
- teach the babies; ongoing affordable or even free lessons, in Muskogee at the MLK Center, Checotah Library, Holdenville Arts Center, at Rentiesville.
- honor the elders; inducting them while they are alive …we have over 150 on the walls in the OBHOF/Blues Club, and
- employ those who play it well – that is the Labor Day Weekend Festival, which employs 200 musicians annually and is in it’s 31st year. – and we appreciate your support!
- Also we recently added documentation – The Rentiesville Blues Festival is a showcase of Regional blues (20 OK Groups) and national headliners. We managed to document this on line last year with our 20 hour virtual Blues Festival in Cyberspace (link through at dcminnerblues.com/about) The 20 Oklahoma Bands received DVD and CD masters of their sets which they can sell themselves thanks to OAC and OH funding, and donor Hilary Conley.

Annual LABOR DAY WKND
WHAT: Rentiesville Dusk til Dawn Blues Festival #33
WHEN: Labor Day Wknd, Fri Sat Sun 5 pm til 5 am each night.
WHO: a virtual showcase of 22 regional groups and 5 nationally acclaimed headliners.
What’s Cool, What’ Not: Bring chairs or blankets unless you come early. No coolers or pets or arms or carry in drinks or food.
HOW MUCH: $20/night, kids under 12 free
Volunteer Option: It takes a lot of people to do this – so we have a great deal for volunteers! Help us out for three hours before or during the event,,,you get i n that night free and a 1/2 off ticket on a T Shirt
